Trust In God’s Goodness

When we feel overwhelmed with life, nothing is more helpful than trusting God. Knowing that a wise, powerful Father-God will ultimately take care of us calms our fears and produces peace. But in order to trust God we must believe in his goodness – that he loves us more than we love ourselves and that he desires to give us what is best for us. If we question God’s goodness or his great love for us, we will have difficulty trusting our lives into his care.

So how do we know God is worthy of our trust? If we consider what he has already done for us, we should be convinced of his goodness towards us. He created a beautiful and amazing universe consisting of 500 billion galaxies with 500 billion to 1 trillion stars in each galaxy. He gave us physical bodies that are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” And he gave us himself in the form of his Son Jesus Christ. Christ’s death as payment for our sins and his gift of eternal life is the highest expression of God’s love.

When we consider all that God has done for us there is no reason to doubt that he will always give us what we need.
Paul writes in Romans 8:32: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”
