God Believes In You

Whether or not you believe in God, he believes in you! Every good parent sees the potential his or her children possess, and encourages them by communicating an optimistic faith in their potential. Our Father in heaven is not exception. He is constantly cheering us on, reminding us that we are his children, and encouraging us to believe in ourselves.
As a counseling psychologist and life coach, I frequently tell my clients that I believe in them. These words are often a catalyst – increasing confidence and stimulating growth. When we hear the voice of God saying, “I believe in you and I will see you through,” what do we have to fear? I sometimes wonder what we would accomplish if we could truly see ourselves through God’s eyes – if we could shed our self-doubts and believe in ourselves the way God does.
If you have trouble believing that God believes in you, it may be that your view of God is distorted. Are you allowing childhood experiences to affect your perception of God? Have you been putting your parent’s face on God? If you are a born-again child of God, God isn’t critical or judgmental towards you. Your loving, forgiving Father-God has placed your punishment on Christ and now sees only the good in you. Since Christ’s death paid the price in full for your sins, God now sees you as his righteousness! (“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” -2 Cor 5:21)
So… clear out you ears and open you eyes to the loving encouragement of God. Your Father in heaven made you to be salt and light in this world. He knows what you are capable of accomplishing, and he is proud of you. Even now God may be saying: “Well done my good and faithful servant. Keep up the good work!” With Jesus living in and through you, you are awesome. The devil knows you are dangerous, and he would love to convince you that God is disappointed and angry with you. But the truth is God is your biggest fan. Even when you doubt yourself or God’s ability to use you, God still believes whole-heartedly in you! This is your chance to prove he is right. May God inspire you to be all that he created you to be.

  1. True. We are all unique, just like everyone else. Everyone has a story, which would help make me feel less alone. However, when a story can be shared, and at least one person can take something from your story, then you are doing what God has called you to do. I used to hate my story, I love my story now. I have learned so much, and I will be forever changed by the outcome. THANK GOD! Thanks for writing!
