Sow as You Go

What we do has eternal significance. It is impossible to know in the here and now
what our actions and words will accomplish for the Kingdom of God. What harvest
will our Lord reap from the seeds he has placed in the garden of your heart? Have
they taken root and are you watering them daily – enriching the soil, and tending to
their growth?

Are the fruits of the Spirit visible in your life? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? As these fruits mature in you,
are you planting seeds into your neighbors’ gardens?

The latest fad is growing crops on virtual farms on social media sites. Your friends
and family can send and request supplies, plants and even manure. In the spiritual
realm, also, we must care for the land – our individual mission fields – and diligently
sow God’s Word while it is still day.

Like a tree planted by streams of water – are your leaves remaining green all year
round? Out of the abundance of your heart do your words bring glory to God and
paint a picture of Christ’s love? Are you living your life as a fragrant offering that
attracts others to the Source of your joy?

Philippians 1:10 says, “Approve the things that are excellent in order to be sincere
and blameless until the day of Christ.” What things do you approve of – do they
bring glory to God? Do you need to refocus your heart and mind on the things of
God?

Christians everywhere are called to sow as we go. This begins in the inner regions
of each follower’s heart. The good soil of your heart can produce amazing growth as
you deeply embrace God’s Word.

Pray with me: “Here I am, Lord. Send me out full of seeds of faith and love, that by
Your Spirit I might speak Your truth and sow Your grace in the world.”
